Aquafrolics :: A Wakeskate Film by Nike 6.0

August 27th, 2009 by John

This saturday, August 29th, Nike 6.0 is releasing their new wakeskate film Aquafrolics. It will be available in its entirety to watch and download at: nike6.com/aquafrolics. That’s right kids, a full length film for free.

“Sweat, stamped passports, and stacked sessions—such were the makings of Nike 6.0’s groundbreaking first wakeskate team movie. Aquafrolics captures the travels, travails, and progression-fueled fun had by the talented 6.0 teamriders over the past year. The crew—Nick Taylor, Ben Horan, Matt Manzari, and Andrew Pastura—joined forces with innovative filmer Matt Staker to push the envelope on both riding and filming techniques. From winching rivers in the Philippines, to countless hours behind the Sea-Doo, and never-before landed tricks at Ben’s homemade backyard pond, not to mention all the impromptu roadtrips and camera-angle experimentation—Aquafrolics is packed with insane action and sheer love of the sport.”

It’s that time of year when the streetwear brands shower us with their latest styles. And there’s plenty of plaid, black denim, and neon to go around. You can never go wrong with Tees for Ten Bucks, so we loaded it up by the hundreds. The Men’s Boardshorts category has everything from understated to, well, Neff. And because those earbuds that came with your phone make the base lines sound like an 8-track, check out the latest from Nixon Headphones, and Skullcandy Headphones. We noticed:

Nike 6.0 continues to kill it with new kicks and colorways guaranteed to impress and outrage. We especially like the Nike 6.0 Air Zoom Cush Wake Shoes. Check out:

Nike 6.0 Wakeskaters Build “The Great Wall of Wake”

August 14th, 2008 by John

You’ve probably seen it gracing the pages of Alliance and Wakeboarding Mag this month and asked yourself what in tarnation is that thing? It’s the Wake Wall and it’s the latest and greatest innovation to come out of the NiKE 6.0 think tank.

“The Wall build was an idea myself and Josh Letchworth came up with to add a different look to our sport,” explains 6.0 wake mentor Silas Thurman. “We wanted something different and new. Greg Necrason came over and built the Wall for us in Josh’s backyard. The idea was to have a studio-style shot. We didn’t want anyone to recognize the area and have a spot that every kid would want to hit.”

What they created was a secret spot that worked perfectly as a stage to highlight some of wake’s most revolutionary riders doing their thing for the world to see. “It was one of those ideas that you talk about and usually goes nowhere,” says Thurman, “but this one did and actually worked out exactly how we had talked about.” Read more…

Alkaline Trio’s Heart and Sole Nike 6.0 Air Zoom Cush

June 16th, 2008 by John

From the very beginning of action sports, punk music has always been blasting out the speakers. As the two have grown up together, they’ve only gotten closer. And now, Nike 6.0 Sneakers is taking it one step further by hooking up with punk icons, Alkaline Trio.

The Heart and Sole Air Nike 6.0 Cush is the love-child of Alkaline Trio’s irrepressible creativity and Nike 6.0’s relentless pursuit of innovation.

“We chose red and black as the main colors to reflect our Chicago roots and pay homage to the Bulls. We are huge fans,” said Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. “I’m also into sneakers, so seeing the Swoosh and our logo on one product is unbelievable. The shoe looks amazing and provides some insight into who we are.”

The Heart and Sole Nike 6.0 Air Cush and a limited run of messenger bags will be released June 27th exclusively at Jacks Retail Shop in Huntington Beach. Alkaline Trio recently kicked off their summer tour in support of their new album “Agony and Irony” and the release of the shoe. The Nike 6.0 Heart and Sole Air Zoom Cush will be available at select retailers nationwide on July 11th. (Editors Note: Same day as the IPhone 3G will be released.)

The shoe pops with custom reflective details and bike-tread inspired graphics, which symbolize the band’s early days in Chicago where they worked as bike messengers. The Heart and Sole Cush is also constructed of all synthetics, which was of utmost importance to the vegetarian members of the band.

When the Heart and Sole Air Zoom Cush drops, the Alkaline Trio will be in the midst of a summer headlining tour in support of their highly anticipated new album “Agony & Irony,” in stores July 1st. Check out Alkaline Trio’s MySpace page for the entire tour schedule.

For sick punk rock steez, do yourself a favor and put a little Heart and Sole in your wardrobe.
