GRIND – boards built for daily park riding and abuse. LF was the first to introduce our Grind technology on some team test boards a few years ago. With some refinements and stoked feedback, we have expanded the offering to 13 models for 2010. These shapes have been ridden hard at parks all over the world, and the GRINDS have proven strong. Our 2010 Grinds feature an incredibly strong, screen printed slider base to give these models added durability in a park environment. Grinds also work great wake-to- wake.

With the NIke 6.0 “Air Mogan Mid Wake” and the “Cush Wake” having arrived recently, you may wonder… Is the season really about to start.  Well… for much of the country, the season is well under way and the reviews on these bad boys are coming in. 

Nike 6.0 Air Mogan Mid Wake shoe

Although this shoe has the profile of a mid skate, the Air Mogan Mid Wake can ride like a low by simply not using the ankle strap… Or should I say “use” the ankle strap for fashion rather than function. Either way, with the majority of the Upper being made of Nike’s Open cell mesh, the Nike 6.0 Air Mogan Mid is super light, super flexible and barely feels like any thing is on your feet.  Perfect for wakeskates with foam tape.

Nike 6.0 Cush Wake Shoe

A little less wake and a little more skate, the Nike 6.0 Cush Wake is going to be more friendly for those who desire Plentifull water expulsion while using traditional grip tape on their wakeskates.  Although the Cush Wake is a low top, the use of more traditional suade and Nubuk upper with the minimum of Open cell mesh, give this Nike more support than the Air Mogan Mid.

The bottom line here…. Nike, the goddess of victory, would be proud of these shoes that carry her namesake.

New for 2009, Launch Pad Introduces the Sumo Sac Ballast Bags

The Launch Pad Sumo Sacs are the most flexible, puncture-resistant ballast bags available today. Made with a sandwiched, woven polyester core and have internally glued and taped seams for a nearly indestructible bag. The sandwich construction keeps them thin, so they are easy to fold up and store when not in use. All Launch Pad Sumo Sacs come standard with the LPL (Launch Pad Link) check valve System. The Launch Pad Link system addresses and corrects all of the past aggravations of filling your ballast bags. The bag valve is spring-loaded so that the pump’s nozzle opens it up during both filling and draining, which means no more water shooting into the boat.

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA – Recreational boat owners who paid state sales taxes on a boat purchase, or those who secured a bank loan to finance a boat, may have some tax deductions available when filing their 2008 federal income tax return.

The Sales Tax Deduction

For boat owners who paid substantial state sales taxes on a new or used boat purchase last year, the Tax Extenders Act of 2008 signed by President Bush on October 3 continues to offer a federal tax benefit with a deduction for state sales taxes. Boaters must choose either the state sales tax deduction or state income tax deduction on their federal tax return — you cannot take both.

In addition, to take the state sales tax deduction, the sales tax on a boat purchase must be applied at the same tax rate as the state’s general sales tax. In order to claim the sales tax deduction, tax returns must be itemized. State sales taxes are entered on IRS form Schedule A, line 5b.

The Boat Loan Deduction

For those owners with a secured boat loan, mortgage interest paid on the loan may be deductible from your federal income taxes. Taxpayers may use the “second home” mortgage interest deduction for one primary home and one second home and must itemize deductions on their returns. A boat is considered a second home for federal tax purposes if it has a galley, a head, and sleeping berth.

Some boaters may be unaware of this potential tax benefit because not all lending institutions send borrowers an Internal Revenue Service form 1098 which reports the interest paid. Not receiving the form does not preclude taking the deduction. If a 1098 is not available, boaters should contact their lender for the amount of interest paid and should enter it on line 11 on Schedule A along with the lender’s tax ID number. If a form 1098 is sent, boaters should simply enter the amount on line 10 of Schedule A.

For those who fall under the Alternative Minimum Tax, most deductions are unavailable as taxes are calculated differently. Boaters are urged to contact a tax preparer or financial advisor for more information.
