Tower Finishes

When wakeboard towers were first introduced, Henry Ford’s adage “you can have any color you want as long as it’s black” summed up the finish options available. Today, there are many custom colors and finishes available for most towers. You can select a tower that is powder-coated with a custom color to almost perfectly match a boat’s color or trim or you can find brushed aluminum, polished aluminum, and polished stainless steel finishes to accent or contrast the trim on your bat. We have even seen a two-tone custom color powder-coat finish.

Black or White Powder Coat
Still the standard option on most wakeboard towers black or white powder coating provide a durable finish that matches the color scheme of most boats. Almost all factory installed towers are ONLY available in a black powder coat finish.

Brushed Aluminum
Some tower manufacturers offer a brushed aluminum finish. Most put either an anodized or clear powder-coat finish on to reduce maintenance and protect the finish. This looks great on boats with an aluminum windshield frame and other aluminum boat trim. This finish is available from Skylon and Xtreme Towers.

Polished Aluminum
Polished aluminum that is either anodized or clear powder coated looks like chrome but not as “blue.” This finish is available from Skylon (some models)

Polished Stainless Steel
You can’t get any closer to chrome than polished stainless steel. This is the hardest, most durable, most scratch resistant, tarnish free, and salt-resistant finish available - period. The manufacturing process is labor intensive - it takes nearly 8 hours to polish a single stainless steel. Because of the labor and higher quality steel required to create a flawless finish, a polished stainless steel finish is more costly than other options, but is the best you can buy in terms of maintenance, durability and looks.
