How to Select the Right Tower
Now that we have given you more information than you thought possible, it is time to select just the right wakeboard tower for your boat. With so many dimensions of classifying towers and options available how do you select just the right tower?
Price Range
In general the old adage “you get what you pay” also applies to wakeboard towers. The OEM towers usually cost a little more than aftermarket towers. A custom tower costs more than universal adjustable tower. Brushed, polished, and custom powder coat finishes cost more than standard black.
In the same way, boats can range from a few thousand dollars for a used run-about to tens of thousands of dollars for a professional wakeboard or water ski tow boat.
Style
We talked about wakeboard tower styles earlier. Certain styles look better on particular boats. For example, most Correct Craft (Ski Nautique) boats have a very steep windshield so a swoop tower does not look good on this boat. Very often the OEM tower (or similar tower) looks best on the boat it was designed for. For example, the Skylon Classic Swoop and the Titan Series II tower look great on Malibu Wakesetter boats. What is most important is that you like the style of tower on your boat. Again, go to WakesideRides.com and select your boat make and model to see what tower others have selected and see many examples.
Quality Reputation
There are probably 50 or more companies that manufacture wakeboard towers. Six companies make roughly 98% of the OEM towers for the boat manufacturers. Of the remaining 40 or so companies, only a handful make towers to the same quality level and fit and finish as the OEM tower manufacturers do. Make sure that the manufacturer has a quality reputation. Tower companies come and go. Try to find a manufacturer that has been in business for a while to minimize your risk.
