Wakeside Supports Eco-Friendly Clothing
In honor of our new employee, Fletcher, we are trying to green up our act. From his 3-hour round-trip bus commute to his commitment to recycle all our plastics and papers used throughout the warehouse and offices, Fletcher’s dedication to lessening his impact on the earth is an inspiration to us all. So here you go Fletcher, an Eco-Friendly Clothing section::
Eco-Friendly Boardshorts and Clothing
What would we do if there was no clean water or fresh snow to ride? Now is our chance to give back to the resources that have defined our lifestyles. Many clothing companies offer eco-friendly pieces that support environmental causes and can help reduce the impact we have on the earth.
O’neill, Billabong, Roxy, and Quiksilver all offer Project Blue clothing lines; eco-friendly apparel and accessories made from organic cotton, soy, bamboo, and recycled polyester. Billabong’s Eco-Suede is an exclusive fabric made from recycled textiles and plastic soda bottles that is being used in a lot of their men’s and women’s boardshorts.
Portions of these clothing sales will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation to fund coastline protection ititiatives nationwide. The math is simple. You buy the water wins.
Our selection will continue to grow throughout the spring and summer as we see more of our clothing shipments come in. We’re especially stoked on Billabong’s new boardshort material. Eco-suede is made out of recycled textiles and recycled soda bottles and feels just like your traditional polyester boardshort. Check it out::
