Winter Park, Fla. - WakeBoarding Publisher Jim Emmons has announced the promotion of Kevin Michael to editor. Michael replaces Matt Hickman, who’s moving to the newly created position of West Coast editor. WakeBoarding is published nine times a year by Bonnier Corporation.

The move will be seamless as Michael transitions to his new role at WakeBoarding. He has already had a hand in shaping the magazine’s editorial direction through writing and editing photos for the past four years as senior editor.

“As a fan of the magazine since 1993, I feel a special connection to our core readership and want to give them what they want in both print and digital media,” says Michael. “The bottom line is that I love wakeboarding and wakeskating, and I love the people involved. I want to focus on the fun aspects of what we do, the factors that got us all involved with this awesome sport in the first place.”

“We are very fortunate to have Kevin on board because he is dialed in to so many aspects of the sport, from the readers to the riders, plus he has a tremendous amount of industry experience,” says Emmons.

Michael began his career in 1998 working as a web producer, launching wakeboardingmag.com and prowakeboardtour.com. His launch of wakeboardingmag.com was so successful that it quickly became the most visited of the company’s websites. In 1999, Michael launched the company’s first downloadable video clip. He is also currently a judge on the Pro Wakeboard Tour and for the Byerly Toe Jam wakeskate series.
